John Savio is Vice President of Public Sector and Defense at Black Duck Software, where he leads efforts to help government agencies, the Defense Industrial Base, and systems integrators build software that is secure, high-quality, and safe for mission-critical applications supporting the warfighter.

A technology leader with more than three decades of experience, including senior roles at Capgemini, PTC, and SAP America, he has led Black Duck's public sector teams since 2010, combining strategic insight with a deep understanding of technology trends to meet the unique needs of public sector clients. John holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, an M.S. in Bioengineering from Clemson University, and a J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law, and he is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

He also serves as a Major and Staff Judge Advocate in the Georgia State Defense Force at the Joint Headquarters of the Georgia Army and Air National Guard, and he regularly contributes thought leadership at industry events on software assurance, open-source management, and digital transformation.
